Call of Juarez In-depth Review

Sound:

The sound is pretty good in this game, supporting EAX and OpenAL. You will hear the ricochets of bullets as they hit area's around you, and the quality of the sound is itself is very good. The music score in this game is high quality, and really has a good Western style to it which helps set the atmosphere for this style of game.

One really high point in the sound department is the superbly acted and highly convincing voice work. Not only do the voices fit the characters, they are well done too. A lot of games still fail in the voice over department, which is a huge shame as bad voice acting is a major distracting issue. Luckily for us, that's not a issue in this game.

Controls:

This game controls like any other first person shooter, with the WASD keys being for movement, R for reload, and the number keys being used for both pulling out and putting away their respectively assigned weapons. You can go into quickdraw mode by pressing one of the mouse buttons, which will slow time down for a brief period as you draw your weapons, and allow you to kill multiple enemies.

There really isn't much to say about the controls, because they do the job well enough to not be an annoyance or a distraction while you are playing the game.

I do!

Outlaws was a great game! I remember playing the demo over and over, just to hear the music on the trailer at the end! Good stuff :).

Outlaws

Does anyone remember Outlaws by LucasArts - that's my favourite western game. It was a lot like Dark Forces, might have been the same engine. Ah, the good old days!
