Which proc do I keep and which do I sell?

Both good procs. I'm leaning towards keeping the 3.0 simply because thats a proc I actually paid for whereas the 2700 was given to me...but i dunno.

Keep the Prescott. It's definitely the more powerful of the two, especially for a media box.

Thanks Shaidar. I kinda was feeling the same way especially considering between either series of CPUs, this particular intel does much better with multi-tasking than the AMD would. I was keeping the amd in consideration simply for heat and power consumption reasons

I would say keep the 3.0E as well. As for heat output, weren't Athlon XP's pretty warm as well? Defo not as hot as prescott's, but still warm.
I never owned an XP CPU, but did own a P4 3.0E. I sold it in anticipation of price drops and new hardware coming out.

I've worked with both procs and there is a considerable differnce in tempurature in the thoroughbred core vs the prescott. You may be thinking of the barton. That definatly produced a lot more heat than the thoroughbred.

either way, Im gonna go with the 3.0e to keep i think
