We learn about failure prevention when we break a SATA wafer connector

Re: A Lesson in User Failure: Investigating the Serial ATA Connector

Ive broken one of these off of the drive. Yeah, the center portion is stuck in the end of the cable, the plastic yanno... The connector fingers are still in the drive.

I carefully stuck the cable back on the drive in a manner where the fingers of the cable would still contact where they needed to etc.. I plugged it all back in.. (this was in my media box)

    It worked.

No. I will not take a "working" broken connector back apart. I pressed my luck sticking it back together. Maybe in some case where I need to un-marry the cable from the drive I'll take a pic of how it worked, but no.. Not just for the sake of it.

In the end. Be careful with the stuff. It can break easier than you think. It did for me. Just lucky it still works.

Worst thing i've had happen is the connector, one of the plastic walls split .

I love how small the cables are but they sure are cheap ass crap .

You got that! I wish someone would come up with a better design for these.

Well if you think about it, all they need to do is build a case around the SATA connection like what they did to mobos.
Q: What do you think about most during the day?
A: Women. They are a complete mystery.
