I am going to use the 1-10 score scale for my reviews... thoughts?

By that i mean many reviewers seem to use a 7-10 scale when it comes to a lot of games at the moment.

In my opinion 1 = crap avoid at all costs, 5 = Average, worth playing if you're a fan on the genre 10 = Perfect, a game that breaks the bounderies of other games in the same Genre in all aspects and becomes the new "benchmark" to uphold.

    Thoughts?

I know this will be somewhat controversial, specifically for companies, because they like the 7-10 score system, as do many "noobs" in my opinion. However the score system in many reviews is too fucked up. I intend to right the wrong

Made a page (work in progress) to sum up what my score system means.

wow if 5 is going to be "average" then 10 is going to be impossible
for example, if doom3 and GTA SA, and Half Life 2 are average ( 5-6 ) i would give crysis an 8 cuz its only that much better in the 1-10 range.

Update: Just read your link, i understand what u mean now

    I compare games by Genre.

If i reviewed Half Life 2 (when it was released in 2004) that game would of probably gotten a 9, very close to a 10 but a 9 none the less.

Doom 3 would of got a 6-7, Crysis... well who knows ;).

I think we can all agree that graphics wise Crysis would get a 10 (going by today's standards only)

This seems like a much more usable idea - as you say, games getting 7-10 is meaningless and ends up with scores being too bunched up.

I would say using a 1-10 scale is the smart way to do it as a 7-10 scale leaves you with not much of a choice which is dumb IMO. A real scailing that isn't pushed in one direction or another by pressure (Big Game Company's) is what we aim for.
