Great news, a mobile GPU that will let "gamers on the go" experience games like Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3 at their finest.

This is great news indeed. I am curious how they are going to neuter the chip to save on power. My laptop has about an hour of battery life without gaming(6800 GO card), I can only imagine how short it will be with an 8800 card.

Now if it came out and was cheap and worked in my Dell XPS 1710 i would buy one in a nano second. Sadly there's no gurantee it works, and they usually are a real pain in the ass to get.

Not sure how to add a pic to the post(other than a 3rd party site), but I found a graph showing all the M GPUs for the 8 series cards. The 8800M GTX sadly has been nerfed from it's desktop counterpart. While not a sloutch by any means, it's closer to the desktop GTS than the GTX(96 streams, 500MHz core clock, RAM clocks are lowered and it only has a 256-bit memory interface instead of the 384-bit of the GTX or the 320-bit of the GTS). I'm sure it will still scream past anything on the mobile market today, but I think they goofed witht he naming. It also comes with "up to 512MB of VRAM".

Seems like it's based on the refresh desktop cards, and not the older ones.

G92, as i remember ages ago that they said they could not bring the 8800 series untill they found a way to make it smaller and output less heat.

I heard smaller and less power hungry(which inturn translates to less heat). I think, with specs like that, it would be more prudent to call it an 8800M GTS, than an 8800M GTX. Seems to be more close in terms. But who knows, maybe the new chips will run like a GTX even with lowered specs.
