    Windows XP x64 Edition

Can somebody give me some reasons why I would not want to use it? Now that I have a 64-Bit CPU I wouldn't mind using its... 64-Bittedness. I don't want to use Vista, though, so WinXP x64 seems like my only option. Should I just stick with WinXP 32-Bit?

It's been a while since I last used XP64. Only thing I would suggest is to make sure all your apps and hardware will be compatible.

All of my hardware has 64-Bit drivers, I'm mainly worried about the occasional incompatibility with games and applications. I see that even some newer games have glitches on 64-Bit operating systems, although that's not too common. Older programs are another story, though...

I'm fast approaching the point where I start to obsessively want to format and reinstall, and I figure that maybe I should give WinXP x64 a go. I just hope that if I do decide to put it on, I don't find myself wanting to go back to XP 32-Bit because of a bunch of program incompatibilities.

I've seen people say that XP x64 is slower than XP 32-Bit in nearly everything, but the vast majority of these opinions were made back when 64-Bit drivers still weren't widely available, and the ones that were out were a little unstable.

if i was going to to do 64bit.. it would be vista. I am running vista 64bit now and have had very little issues. At the moment i need to figure out if the lack of performance gain from SLI is something hardware or OS related.

Well, Vista isn't an option at the moment. My system isn't exactly top-o-the-line, and Vista does carry a performance hit. One that I'd rather not have to deal with. Also, everybody and their mother says you need 4GB of memory to run Vista 64-Bit properly, and I only have 2GB.

I only have 2 GB and have no issues.... the crysis demo runs really nice with only the 2gb... granted i will upgrade to 4 not too far from now.
