ForceWare 169.04 Crysis Beta Driver out (10/30/07)

New 169.04 for XP & Vista for the Crysis demo. How are they? I'm fixing to install them, as Crysis demo froze up on me when loading. I had a friend with that issue and the UT3 demo on his 8800GTS, and a driver update fixed it. *crosses fingers*

    Vista 64 bit http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_169.04.html
    Vista 32 bit http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_169.04.html

    XP 64 bit http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_169.04.html

Ok, it works, yay! Holy crap, the game looks good and runs well on Medium settings so far. Specs in sig or whatever you call that fun button of happiness...

I had good FPS with the 163.71(?) drivers and Crysis. I have the 169.04 drivers installed now, but I haven't played anything other than EQ2 and ET:QW with them yet. ET:QW runs much better than it did before. I'm sitting on a much more solid FPS base. Never really dropping below about 45fps or so. Before I could hit the low 30's easy. EQ2 however is another story. It seems my AA got better(this game seems to hate AA for some reason), but I notice a slight pause(we call it hitching in EQ2) every now and then for about 1-3 seconds. Doesn't happen a lot, but enough to be annoying(about every 5-10 minutes or so).

OMG... another.. i just installed new drivers this morning!!!! wtf... so cool to see Nvidia working so hard on drivers. The last set helped me to get dx10 to work.. but i have to half ass it to get it to work. So maybe this will fix the last little issues i was having.... i really hope as drivers progress we get more improvements in crysis. I think the retail will run even better than the demo we currently are playing.

I'll try these out. I was using the 169.01 version, but I kept getting the error that my driver had stopped responding, and my game would crash. Also it would do that just on the desktop. One thing to note is those problems started after I tried running Crysis in DX9 mode.

Oh and thanks for posting the links .

That's good news Hexen525. You've got a pretty solid machine there... ever think about trying the 64-bit Vista (takes advantage of the ram)? I believe you just need a 64-bit DVD and you can still use your 32-bit key. Cjl64, post back with the DX10 results please, one of my buddies with an 8800GTS is probably going to test Vista sometime. Before I forget...

You're welcome Cassius. Oh, and weird about your errors, I'll keep an eye out for any problems like that.

Thanx Figgy. Vista 64-bit Ultimate is on my to-do list. Along with adding SLI soon too. Think I am going to have to wait for the 64-bit before SLI, hate to see the rest of my RAM disappear because of my video cards.

Cas, you getting TDR errors? If so, make sure you got all the Hotfixes for Vista(all on one page on nVidia's site) and then dump those drivers off at the next corner and grab some drivers you know work well. DX10/9 has also been updated lately, never hurts to have. If these aren't TDRs you got...ignore me ^_^

So far, I've had good results with these drivers on my 8800GTS SLI setup. Of course, I still play 12x10 native on my LCD, but games coming out like this make me kinda glad that I dont have a huge display. I like my AA and such, and playable frames.
