Google Caught in Comcast Traffic Filtering?

Analysis of the PCAP packet dumps reveals several injected fake RSTs, which are very similar to the ones seen coming from the Great Firewall of China [PDF]. Did Google somehow get caught up in one of Comcast's blacklists, or are the heuristics flagging Google as a file-sharer due to the heavy traffic?"

Yeah I have this same issue all the time. I have to switch DNS servers to get by it and when I do get google back alll images are blocked.

I'm waiting for a huge lawsuit to go through for people paying allot of $$ for a company that allows minimal use of this said to be fast uninterrupted connection.

Can you say FALSE ADVERTISING? also illegally accessing your private information (packets) and altering them (can't remember where I read this, but it is illegal from what I understand - I may be wrong).

I was looking forward to Comcast cable internet coming here, but with them doing crap like that, no thanks. I'll stick to Qwest DSL.

That's weird that DNS would get you past it. No matter where you get your lookup from, it's still just google coming through. Sounds like there's something else up.

In any case, I use opendns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

A DNS server is what points you in the appropriate direction for the website you are trying to go to. Comcasts DNS server and most of your ISP DNS servers suck ass and like to filter out certain things. Open DNS is a way to get around this filtering, to an extent. It also allows you to white flag sites and black list certain sites. So say if you do not want your child to go to such and such site you can creat an account and follow their directions for your IP address. Really is very nice to have the ability to monitor and adjust your own DNS server. Even though it is not yours.

No, you still go through their proxie server and if it's like most work places that have an IT department your PC is most likely locked down from making any changes.

Think of a DNS lookup as asking for directions. So long as you get an answer you're still going to the same place.
