A little help for my church!

Hey guys, never done a thread like this before, but just throwing it out there to see what I can come up with. So heres the deal, my church just contacted me about some computer work. They're trying to setup some software based learning tools for the Sunday School/Wed. Night program kids. Anyways, they contacted me because they want me to check out the computers they had available to see if I could get them up to the software minimums. Here is what they have, I have not looked at specs, just know what OS's they run:

    1 - Windows 98 machine
    1 - Windows 95 machine (maybe 2)
    1 - Windows XP laptop that needs a new mobo ( )

So basically I'm thinking its lame and they should just upgrade. Only thing is they don't want to spend a lot of money as they want to see how this works out for them, plus they don't have a super large amount of kids. Now they don't need super computers either. But I would like them to be able to run XP. I'm thinking 1ghz+ processors and matching mobos, 512mb worth of ram for each, 30+ GB HD's, and probably DVD-roms incase the software requires them. AFAIK, they won't run internet, or any office programs. Just this software. So I could get away with using Windows 98 SE. But I would like them to be somewhat decent, otherwise I might as well run what they have. I will gladly do the work for free obviously, but I'm not going to throw a ton of money into it as my kids won't be there for awhile (then maybe they'll get new computers ). So if you guys are willing, I'm putting this up in hope of getting some unused computer gear. If you have anything you'd be interested in donating, please feel free to PM me, or post it up here. You can also contact me on MSN Messenger. If someone wants, and would be donating a good amount of stuff, I will see about having my church write them a receipt showing their donation for tax purposes. They do not know about this though, it will be a total surprise.

Re: A little help for my church!

I'll have to take a look at my stuff and see what I've got. I know I've got an Athlon64 3200+ Venice (S939). I still have the box and retail hsf I think, also. I'll post back here later, I'll have to look and see what I've got... Not really sure if I have anything else or not, lol. I've got a slightly better cpu now and I thought about selling the venice, but I'd probably do good to get $30 for it, so meh..

    Update:
Okay, I think all I can really offer are these -
    AMD Athlon64 3200+ Venice Socket939
    XFX Geforce FX5200 64mb PCI

Doubt you'll have any use for the graphics card, but it's there if needed. The CPU isn't really a "great" CPU anymore, but it still works well for light gaming and WinXP usage...
The real hell is your life gone wrong.

Thanks m3tal, I will keep that stuff in mind. I can't use the proc without a motherboard, but its MORE than enough for what they'll be doing. You're the first one to respond with actual stuff, thnx man.
