I don't know about you guys.. but i am "hard" for SSD hard drives. I doubt i will be getting one any time soon because of the cost... but man i will be upgrading to 1 or 2 when they finally come down to reality.

I suppose the pioneers - i.e. the people who buy them now at these high prices, are the guinea pigs - if the ones they get now have a low failure rate in 2 or 3 years, then that would look promising for the longer term. Solid state is supposed to be a more durable tech, so you'd think not having moving parts would make things more reliable? As regards heat, I can imagine them requiring fans directly atttached, or large heatsinks, just to be on the safe side in hot cases.
