    Keyboards and mice

Ok so i see lots of talk about all the stuff that goes into the computer, but what about the things we games bang on all day long. I want to hear what are the good keyboards and mice out there. Right now i have a logitech MX518 mouse. which i think is great. could have a better response time, but i like all the buttons that is has. makes weaponing switches and comm talk to other player easier. Now on a sad note my keyboard is crap. I have a ZBoard. www.zboard.com. if you have not heard about this board i will tell you about it in a nutshell. you can change the keys. one set normal. other set gamer. gamer side has the butterfly key for better control. which it does give you. and that is it. Now the reason why i don't like it. you cant uninstall it at all. i spent 3-4 days trying to get it removed. remember that Uber. we both could not get it uninstalled. now you are probably say to yourself right now..."self why does he need to uninstall it." Well that answer is...wait for it....driver update. that drive would not install without uninstalling it. now if anyone out there has any ideas please let me know. but I have decided to go to a logitech gamer keyboard. thoughts?? not by a zboard

    Re: Keyboards and mice

The days where you actually need keyboard drivers LMAO!

Oh man now people can't use downloading keyboard drivers excuse when downloading games anymore .

As for the keyboards and mice, the only one's i have used which i can actually remember. Were the Logitchec Dinovo and some MX opitcle mouse, keyboard was sexy and mouse was decent ish.

This one i have now Logitech Desktop mx5000 not bad keyboard (i preferd the dinovo before i killed it ), however the laser mouse is FAR better, omg you don't realise how much better they are untill you use one after using a opticle for so long. Plus the mouse is easier to charge etc than the last. (wireless)

best keyboard i had was an sgi usb with their oldschool logo. just heavy enough and the action was great. at the time i got it they were going for $9.99 on ebay i should check that out...
mine failed when it got wet and i got impatient and put it in the oven. it was a big thread on another forum.
the keyboard i use now is benq and it sucks. feels like a laptop keyboard.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

Logitech MX518 and Logitech G15 v1 (blue lit). There is a new g15 out now, it's leds are orange rather than blue, it has less macros, the lcd is "amber" (orange..). It's lcd panel is fixed as well while the v1's can open/close and it's media keys are lit and the vol is a wheel. I read somewhere that more games support the new one's lcd more, I don't quite understand that.. It's just the lcd... should work on either, right? I know bf2142 has built in support for the lcd on my v1 g15 as well as one a dude at total2142 or whatever wrote.

    Old one (v1)

    New One (v2)

As for my mouse, I love it, but I do want to try out the lazer mice now. I'm wanting a g5, but it's v2 looks goofy imo. I want the rusted silver looking Logitech G5.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

I've been using a Logitech MX1000 mouse for a long time now, best mouse I have ever owned. It's just the right weight, and glides smoothly. Although, now it's in need of new feet. Been using it a LONG time!

My current keyboard is a Microsoft Media Keyboard with fingerprint reader. I got it at a stupid cheap price, barely paid $20 for it and it's a $100 keyboard. Been using it longer than the mouse...

I've been looking at getting a new keyboard lately though. I have my eye on these two at the moment:

    Logitech G15

    Razor Tarantula

Probably will be getting one of the two soon.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

Yea the razor keyboard is great looking leaning hard (like a cholo... elbows up ) oops sorry of track.
But a lazer mouse will be the next mouse i get. It would be nice to have some real tracking. (remebering the days when mice had the balls in them... that just doesnt sound right at all)

    Re: Keyboards and mice

I thought the razor was cool because the buttons on the side (far left/right) can actually be replaced. They have included buttons that have icons specific to a game function. Things like aim, reload, talk, crouch, prone, jump, 3shot, single shot, etc...

That, and it would go perfectly with the whole blue/black theme I have going. So it makes it a tough decision between those two keyboards.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

If I were to get a Razor keyboard, it'd be their Lycosa. I like it better than the Tarantula. Only downfall of both is neither has an lcd screen... I love my g15's lcd, I can view Fraps' FPS counter on it, view bf2142 game stats, system resources, etc...

I'm sticking with my MX518 though.. I see all these lazer mice boasting their 2000dpi abilities, so? You'll just end up having to turn the sensitivity on it down anyway or in the game's options... If it's too sensitive, you can't control it :/

    Re: Keyboards and mice

For mice's, recommend me a good one. I'm going to be playing a lot of FPS (UT3/Crysis) etc. I heard one of the Razor's was amazing but I forgot which one :(.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

Either of these particular mice are probably among the best you can buy for gaming:

    Re: Keyboards and mice

I like a mouse that fits my hand and is comfortable! Wireless is a must for me as I hate that damn annoying cable dragging me down!

Only complaint I have about this mouse is the feet things. I have had one fall off. Going to contact Logitech to see if they can sned out some feet things or a new mouse or something.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

I had a very good laser mouse, similar to that one Uber, but the battery thing at the back broke and it couldn't get the batteries in place anymore. I didn't slam it at all, just came home from a vacation and it was broken... I'm steering towards that Copperhead though, looks really good for some FPS's.

see this one has a built in battery. No double AA BS to mess with. Just drop it in it's cradle every other day when going to bed.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

I dig the new G15 v2. I always restrained to get a G15 v1 because it was so ugly and bulky. Now this is a refinement IMHO.

I have that same mouse, and bought it when it first came out. Absolutely love it!

I also have the same problem with the feet, except mine just simply wore down. You can find replacement feet for like $3 on various hardware sites. They come with like 8 or 12 foot pads too. I don't think Logitech will do anything for you, unless they carry replacement feet that you can purchase somewhere. It's a $3 foot pad after all.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

I don't really find a keyboard as important as a good gaming mouse, so I'm just using some standard logitech board and an MX518. Would love to get that new razer with 4k DPI sometime...

    Re: Keyboards and mice

I use a Razer Copperhead on my tower and a Razer Krait on my laptop. I have the Ideazon Merc on my tower and the Ideazon Fang on my laptop. I had the driver issue also. Had to reformat my laptop to fix it. Figured out the issue. It's removing the temp files from the temp folder using a 3rd party program(WinOptimizer as example). I have no real issues with my Ideazon products at all...other than that one.

My bro has the Saitek Eclipse keyboard. Space bar is all messed up. After about a week or so, you have to press right in the dead center for it to work. It seems to teeter/pivot on a middle spot making the sides completely useless.

He needs to pop it off and reattach the metal clips to the board itself.. i had this happen years ago on my old gateway keyboard.

    Re: Keyboards and mice

One time I was obsessed with buying a new mouse but I held off after doing some research. I learned that DPI is over-rated and that you can acutally go overboard. L337 gamers actually use a really low sensitivity in games and my good old intellimouse optical from like 6 yrs ago is still good enough at lower sensitivity. I like the design of it too... only thing its missing is a sideways scrolling option.
