The fan on my CoolerMaster Hyper48 died this morning. Disappointing. Its a standard sized 90mm fan. Not a big deal, I'll just head down to the local parts house and pick up a new one.
The selection of fans they have in the 90mm size was dismal. No one else around town had what I was looking for either.
This is the fan that I had to settle on..
It has a thermal control (through an external sensor) and it doesnt work so well. Regardless of how or where I attached it around the heatsink and CPU, the sensor just wouldnt get enough heat to kick up the speed on the fan, eventually overrunning the cooling capacity.
Ok, so it has a "knob" potentiometer to adjust fan speed as well. So I attach it, and even at its lowest setting, the noise is pretty bad. I wish I could get an in between setting of its lowest (cool on sensor) and lowest setting on the knob, it would be great.
Otherwise, now Im stuck with a fan that I have to run faster than I need making a lot of noise. It would be nice to have a fan with a sensor that will adjust itself, however it needs to work better than this thing.
What should I be looking for?

After seeing this thread, I think after I get the lighting crap I just bought and the side panel with window for my case (both lights and side panel I'm waiting to be shipped..), I think I'm going to replace all my comp's fans...

Hopefully they make that CLUSTER fan in different sizes, lol.The real hell is your life gone wrong.
