Texture Evict issues with which drivers...

The texture evict issue that seems to affect the GTS 320 users.. Ive been reading around and really havent found anything concrete.. Tried reading the release notes of drivers, and maybe I was just missing it, but I didnt see anything mentioned in the newer drivers..

Which driver sets is this supposed to be "fixed" or helped out with? Do we know?

I haven't even heard of this issue. Do you care to elaborate it a bit and give not only me but the newbs that read a little more info on what "texture evict issue" means?

The 8800 series had an issue with texture management (textures loaded into video ram) not being properly sorted upon loading and unloading.

It of course cropped up mostly for the users of the 320 (having a lack of ram compared to the 768) and nVidia has been working on a fix for it for some time.

Anyway, recently the newer sets of drivers are said to have helped fix this issue, and I was curious if anyone knew which versions had this particular fix. Thats all.

I have the 320 card, and I hadn't noticed any wierdness in games until I played Crysis, where off in the distance the trees which went up the mountains were kind of messed up with different shapes coming and going. I tried the new beta driver 169.1 and it seemed to be fixed. I'm not sure if this is the issue you speak of, but you might check them out.

This was addressed in the 16x.xx drivers for Vista I do believe(drivers from about mid August I think). It should be fixed in all drivers since. If there is an issue in XP, I am not aware of what driver fixes it, sorry. It pretty much only effects the 320MB cards because of the limited VRAM, but still haveing a high memory bit interface and a screaming GPU. I'm sure it could affect all the 8800 cards, but that one got it the worse.

The issue he is describing is basically a memory management one. The 320MB cards gets too much info and does not sort it or dump it properly. Causing game play to slow down after a few minutes or possibly CTD/TDR.

K, I got ahold of a good friend who knows more about this then I do. And he said...
anything past 163.67 should be fixed.
    .

    See if that helps.

Good to know when the fixed it (as far as drivers go).. When I was playing around with drivers and EQ2 and such, I lost track of which drivers did what.

Then, I couldnt find any information as to which drivers had this problem, and which did not.
