I'll but shutting my computer down in a few minutes. I'm going to remove everything from my case and I'm going to paint the inside of my case gloss black. While doing that, I'm also going to lap my heatsink and see if it'll help the temps any. I'll post pics when I'm done (before and after).

Re: Heatsink lapping and chassis painting.
How do you plan on lapping the 'sink and which 'sink do you have? What are you clocking your X2 at now and what are current temps?
My rig: Dell (meh) P4 530, 2.5GB RAM, HIS X1650 XT iSilenceII 256MB

Re: Heatsink lapping and chassis painting.
Lmfao, yeah, the black paint is purely aesthetic.
I lapped it using a lapping kit I ordered from SVC. Used it with water. I have an Arctic Freezer 64 Pro, which is what I lapped. I also used their Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound.

I'm not sure about under load because I didn't test it before so there's no since in doing an after, lol. Those temps are from PC Wizard 2007. I'm also guessing the temps may go down another degree or two after the as5 has "settled". I also did some better wire management and moved my sound card further down away from the video card (was a 1 slot gap, now it's 2). Either the larger gap or the improved wire management or both has dropped my video card's idle temps down from 44-45C to 40-41C.
I'll post the pics after I've sorted through them, cleaned 'em (if needed) and resized them (pix are a little on the large side
).
