    ASUS A8N32_SLI

So, I used the built in OC'er to well, overclock, my CPU to 2.3 per core, Id done it to 2.4 previously, but i was trying out the SUper Pi test, anyway, it crashed as it rasied my FSB, then for some reason, It wouldnt recognise my HDD's, so I had to move em to the 3rd n 4th sata ports, then I got a new HDD I had ordered and tried it again, it worked!

Yeah ASUS lan ports seem to break to or wear out. My roommate has an ASUS sli mobo that's maybe a year old. Well....it's constantly making pings in game jump realy high and stay for about 5 minutes then come back down. Of cource this could well be user error and just the fact that he does no maintenance on his computer. Been almost 6 months since the last time he cleand up anything! But that's the only issue he's had with it. So see no need in cleaning it up.

I've personaly never had a prob with ASUS and think there boards are great. MSI is another board I like using. Abit uste to be good.

That pretty much sums it up. ASUS boards for the most part have been damn good to me. MSI has been at least as good. I actually like MSI boards a little bit better because of how they look. ASUS boards are always a bit plain. Speaking of plain, how come Abit mobo's are most always REALLY plain. Either way, I used to love ABIT but I won't touch them now.

Not a knock on any mobo maker, but I can't believe how much power the nFORCE 5 chipset draws! It's downright stupid. nFORCE 4 was not the best in that regard, but the nFORCE 5 chipset gets waaaaaay too hot IMO. You shouldn't need a heat pipe cooler just for a damn chipset.

    What this sweet ass board

This board is just sick. I didn't think it was a bad idea to have a heat spreader like that. Better performance when you pull that heat off the controllers. Hell in previous test with a peltier system. I had to put a peltier on both south bridge and north bridge to get it to properly work over clocking. The cooler the chipsets are the better.

I thought it was mearly for gamers and helping romove heat. But if the chip realy gets that hot...damn!!

I just got this board, and it seems pretty nice so far, but people with BFG power supplies and tower cases need to beware-
the modular PCIE cables will not reach the bottom card.

    Re: ASUS A8N32_SLI

I really like my Abit AT8 32x board. My *only* real complaint is the placement of the two SATA ports attached to the ULI controller (near the CPU socket, at the bottom left corner). Tends to make a 6 drive system setup a bit of a pain...
