View Full Version : Official Bioshock Thread
SirBaron 08-20-2007, 07:08 AM Well seeing as the demo is now out "there" people are allready playing the same demo as what the 360 users had for a few days now.
Anyone else just can't wait for this game, lucky for Americans as you get the gem tommorow, we gotta wait till the 24th :(.
Bioshock is proof that Original IP's still can be succesful if they are actually good games. Hopefully the success will spawn new idea's and not a 100 clone underwater city games :bleh2:
SirBaron 08-20-2007, 10:29 AM 1920x1200 max settings AA/AF didn't work forced i don't think, anyway games runs at about 45-90FPS usually hanging around 70-80.

Screens in link above.
Chuki 08-20-2007, 11:36 AM Thats good news to hear about how it runs. Although I can't find a link to download the demo.
SirBaron 08-20-2007, 11:40 AM http://chonnom0.filezaru.com/BioShockPCDemo.zip
Hopefully that link works, also use a download program like getright just so you don't lose the download.
VW_Factor 08-21-2007, 07:47 AM For whatever reason the demo will not start for me.
I downloaded the steam version however.
Perhaps I'll try fileplanet or something, and do the demo that way.
VW_Factor 08-21-2007, 08:40 AM No joy there either. Bioshock demo will not start period. Doesnt leave an error or anything. Watching task mgr, the process Bioshock.exe starts, then disappears.
This is slightly troublesome, because I planned on purchasing this game, but why do that if it doesnt start?
VW_Factor 08-21-2007, 10:10 AM Well.
It installs and runs fine on my wifes machine. These two machines are nearly identical. Hers runs SLI though, and mine does not.
Whats up here?
SirBaron 08-21-2007, 10:37 AM Who knows, i assume you spec button system was a joke and not your actual PC.
What windows you using to play? Perhaps the game is trying to launch directx 10 on XP, though it would probably give a error, or just run in 9 anyway...? Meh i have no idea why it would do that.

Yeah, the system specs are a joke.
Windows XP yes, and fairly clean install. Its only some months old. I just finished up playing some on the wifes machine, but its really strange for it not to run on my own machine. I'd like to purchase this game, but Im afraid I'll get the same deal with the purchased game. With it not starting.
Anyway. Im off to work, will look at it more later.
Chuki 08-22-2007, 06:50 AM Demo runs awesome at 1920x1200 with 8xAF in DX10 mode. Game looks awesome too. I remember watching the intro thinking when is the fmv gonna end and when do I get to play. Then a message came up onscreen saying to press WASD to move around.
Now if only CoJ and Stalker could get a little performance improvement.
Trunks0 08-25-2007, 12:48 PM Yea I had the same thing happen. I had to run at a fairly low resolution(1024x768) to run at HIGH quallity settings, but that hardly mattered, this game looks amazing. Not to mention the atmosphere was great too :). I plan to pick this up very soon
SirBaron 08-25-2007, 12:57 PM Yeah Bioshock is awesome and i'm working on finishing the review today, hopefully Cyko will get a chance to check it out not longer after. This review is more focused on the game it self and less on benchmarking.
Though there is benchmarking on a 8800GTX, and SLI. Plus Overclocked benchmarks too, CPU overclocked and GPU overclocked benchmarks.
Uraloserface101 10-22-2007, 01:55 PM the demo was ok, graphics were very nice i must say but the gameplay was off to me, the physics were off, and the weapons felt weird, almost like they didnt belong. but then i think that the game did that for a reason so that you would use the powers in your hands more than weapons.
